A friend at work told me about this page. It looked good, so I joined up. I would scroll through and read some lovely stories of complete strangers and their lives, told in just a few words. The most moving of those was from a lady who posted a picture of her friend's back garden, from the kitchen doorway, where she & her friend has spent hours chatting, reading, sharing a wine and enjoying each others company. Her friend had just passed away and she was closing up the house for the last time. It was so moving and from then on I was addicted. Thank you to everyone for sharing your views. I wish you all an abundance of happiness wherever you are in our beautiful world. Take care xx
What a wonderful experience to have been a part of View from my Window during the pandemic. It created a sense of belonging yet we were isolated. Human touch could be felt though virtual. A phenomenon of the visual and emotional testimonial of a world presence. Truly amazing. Much continued love ❤️ to all!
I posted in early April 2020. A view of my Gloucestershire garden and willow tree. I never knew if it made it out there but I came to love tge images so much. For some reason, Belgium was particularly lovely. It was always exciting to see more distant countries. Qikiqtarjuaq was a highlight. As I had a broken ankle, it was especially lovely to travel with VFMW. Enjoyed tHe book later too. And seeing images from Ukraine and Russia felt very important when that conflict came.
Merci, thanks, grazie, kiitos, gracias, danke à toutes les personnes qui ont partagé leur intimité avec des inconnus. Ça m'a permis de voyager et aussi relativiser
Thank you for bringing us closer together in these special times. It has been a wonderful experience.
Une belle aventure. Ce fut un vrai plaisir de découvrir toutes ces magnifiques vues de notre belle planète.
I've loved it and am sad to see it end ... but of course I understand that such a large community becomes increasingly difficult to facilitate. I not only bought both books for myself, I also giftet both to about 10 friends, in different countries (a.o. a sociology professor). We are all fans! Dear Barbara, thank you sooo, sooo much for seeing this through for an entire three years. "To know only one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded." You have made a wonderful contribution to all our lives. I hope knowing that will keep enriching you.
Joining this FB group was one of the best things that happened to me when we were all hit by the first lockdown. I was lucky to discover it via a friend about 10 days after its creation and feel joy up to this day when a new post passes in my FB feed. At a time when we were confused, anxious, worried, frightened this group was a source of warmth, help, friendliness, connection to the world that suddenly was beyond our reach physically, but through the power of the internet came into our homes and stayed as close as never before. Thank you, Barbara, for putting into practice the great idea you had. Thank you for sticking with it and labouring hard not only to keep it running, but to keep it safe for everyone who joined. Thank you to all the “elves” that helped you in this enormous effort. Last, but by no means least, thank you to all the good people from all over the world who by being there in all their different and inimitable ways created a community that provided me (and I am sure millions of others) with joy in sad times, with a feeling of unity when physically divided, with hope when there seamed to be nothing but gloom around. Thank you all for once again proving that humanity is still the best hope we have for our future and the future of our children!
Dear Barbara & team,Thanks to Barbara’s great initiative, you really brightened up my days during the difficult Covid time. Thanks for everything and all the best to all of you!Take care.

Ohne view from my window wären die letzten 3 Jahre noch viel härter gewesen!Danke euch allen
I was fortunate to join VFMW quite early and loved it immediately. I have laughed and cried at many of the entries. It connected the world in the most amazing way, like a warm hug embracing us all.
I joined around May/June of 2020, and I loved every photo and every story! It was virtual traveling, and definitely helped me gain/maintain a little connection with the world. Thank you to all who contributed; no matter how humble your abode, you broadened my horizon and brought joy. I bought both the books, so I will always have VFMW with me and to share. Thank you!
This was a WONDERFUL experience.I “traveled” all over the world looking out the front windows of perfect strangers, but reveling in the beauty each of us has carved out for our day-to-day existence.Thank you allowing us to share these moments with each other. I’ll miss it.
It was so lovely to have "'View From My Window" during Covid lockdowns. It was uplifting to not only share my view but to also enjoy others' views, at a time when New Zealand was closed to the outside World. Thank you to the VFMW Team and to all who participated.
Thank you for all the wonderful photos from all over the world. They really lifted the spirits in such a terrible time in history.
C’est la fin d’une aventure unique et merveilleuse !
Merci Barbara , ainsi qu’à tous vos amis, de nous avoir permis de faire tous ces voyages …immobiles!
To say Thank you seems hardly enough but thank you so much for giving us VFMW. Also for your constant, hard work and of course your fantastic idea and creativity which supported so many and changed the way we think about places far and wide. I treasure my VFMW book and many others have loved reading it as they have entered the world of VFMW. At a time we all felt so cut off in our homes we had a wonderful connection to so many others just like us in every corner of the world. Thank you again, you and your team deserve a great deal of relaxation, real travel and time to resume your lives and begin new creative projects. This group has been truely amazing! X ❤️special greetings from Mudgee Australia 🇦🇺
In the aftermath of the Covid World shutdown, I was isolated to my patch of earth here in the Southwestern USA. It was as if View from my window was some kind of magic community bringing me comfort and camaraderie. I poured over the pictures and comments and felt like I was sharing this time from my small space with others who often felt like me. These daily connections opened my eyes to wonderful places filled with beauty unlike any I’ve ever seen as well as challenges I may never experience. It was a sharing of our human condition at a time in our history unlike any other.
Thankyou for the connections, inspiration and adventure when I needed it most!
Thank you for a sense of connection when there was so much isolation. I love both books as well. Sweet time capsules.
VFMW took me around the world when I needed it most. Peering into others’ life during the height of COVID-19 was something to brighten the day when there wasn’t much else to look forward to.
