I found this page in the early months following the covid lockdown. As an avid traveler and (hobby) photographer, I fell in love with the daily post immediately. I loved seeing how everyone, in so many parts of the world sharing their views & thoughts, good or bad. It was promising and comforting too. I shared a photo of my grandkids, playing in the trampoline in our backyard. It was a typical spring day in the PNW - wet and gloomy but, the scene was joyful . I felt blessed to have my grandkids, safe and carefree enjoying their childhood and the beauty of our backyard. Looking at some of the pictures posted on this site, I knew this was not the case for many, specially those in cities across the globe. My photo was published, I believe in May or June 2020. I love this page so much, I invited several families & friends, and I was happy to see the worldwide & media attention brought on by the popularity of the site. I so appreciated the work done by everyone on this team. I think your work not only made it bearable to live during the darkest times of our lives but, most importantly - you gave us beauty, hope, light, laughter and friendships. The borders & walls disappeared through your post. I bought the 2 editions of books published and I know I will enjoy looking through them for many more years. I love that Barbara D was able to make the trip to Japan and make it full circle with photos from the same room/view and with the author of that post. That was specially touching for me since we have had many exchange students from Japan and traveling to (Kyoto) Japan is still on my bucket list. Thank you all for the wonderful work and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Peace to all.

It’s hard to imagine that it’s been 3 years or that anything good has come from the Covid-19 pandemic. View from my window was such a wonderful experience that it left us passionate about the beauty of our world 🌍 and the cultures that live in it. For all the horror of that time, this group was and continues to be, a ray of light and hope amongst us all. I am so sad to know it is closing. Thank you for your dedication in assuring we all smiled every day.🪟🪟🌏🌎 🌍🤩🍾👀🌻🌈☀️🏠🏞️🌆🌁🪟🪟

I loved seeing all the views from around the world. It was a trip I could never take any other way! I regret never posting my View even tho i had been in the group early on. Thought i could get it in this morning before the final curtain but missed it. Thank you to the Creator of VFMW for this journey. Thanks to the Admin and Moderators as well.

Thank you for an amazing place to visit during the anguish that was the Covid-19 pandemic from March 2022 to today. This page united us and raised our spirits, created new friendships and made us smile during difficult times.
I will miss you all and the posts that would have followed.
Best wishes from Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA.
Yours,
Todd 🙂

View from my window was part of my everyday life for three years, and I'll miss it greatly.
I joined in early April 2020, and scrolling through these amazing photos from around the world, reading the posts about people's lives in lockdown, their personal stories, and the conversations that were sparked ... it felt so enriching and inspiring, all of it. We were in this together, all of us, and it made all the difference in the world. During the weeks and weeks of post-Covid fatigue and mind fog that I went through in April, May and June of 2020, it provided so much joy.
Ever since, I've enjoyed the views from other members' windows over my morning coffee, and the last few days have felt a little empty. It's an adjustment. 🙂
It was such a fantastic idea, it provided just what Barbara had had in mind when she created the group, and I so feel blessed to have been part of it. I'll love the memory of the group as much as I loved the group itself.
Thank you, Barbara and team, and good luck for whatever your futures hold for you! All your time and effort have been appreciated very, very much!

Dear Barbara, VFMW team, and Members, I shed tears this morning when I read of our site's closing (it has, indeed, become ours). I genuinely am grieving, as I looked forward every day to everyone's remarkable posts, stories, and hopeful, guiding messages. As I got ready for the day today, I reflected on what incredible, empathetic people you all are, to have conceived of this generous, creative, powerful, elegant idea, curated with love, perfection, and depth. Barbara, you thought of others in pain and isolation; in so doing, you created a pathway to connection and understanding, laughter and awe, astonishment and wonder. Just wow! I wish I knew you personally. We all are forever grateful. We all also understand the incredible pressures of this workload and fully support the need for rest and rejuvenation. I have the books, and will contribute to the pdf. That said, I can never repay everyone for the joy I experienced loving everyone's personal gifts of their own views; I always admired everyone's openness and courage to post something so really intimate. Thank you, thank you all! With love and always best wishes, Amy

This website was a wonderful diversion when the entire world was in the throes of the Covid pandemic. While being forcefully sequestered in our homes, View From My Window was there for us to see the world was still out there in all its beauty, and people everywhere still had beautiful lives. It brought peace and joy in a tumultuous worldl. Thank you for that.

Oh I will miss the daily posts in my FB Feed, all the different Views - they were *ALL* beautiful and human and humane. Made me feel less alone in the middle of all the sadness and hatefulness that seems to be going on in the world right now. We're all just *people*. I am grateful for everyone's work and everyone's submissions. I think I posted a pic a long time ago and wanted to post again but I was late and the FB Group has been shut down.
Thank you to everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom and top of my heart.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity to see the beautiful parts of the world, that we wouldn't normally be able to see. Some of us have exquisite homes and backyards, while others are smaller and simple...but all beautiful and home for all of us. This helped to bring us all together, when the world was a bit scary and lonely. It's been so enjoyable to view these amazing pictures over the past 3 years.

I found this site during the early months of COVID. As someone who had to leave a cruise half way through the cruise in fear of being locked out of the US, I was a frustrated traveler. I so appreciated a new and safe way to “ see the world “ through the eyes and windows of people all over the world. It was thrilling when my own backyard appeared during the first year. Now I have the first VFMW book to enjoy when this is paused. Thank you for making life during COVID so much richer.
