April 2020. I laid in bed wide awake. My mother and sister were in ICU and Texas was under a deep freeze, with no power. Nurses were carrying water up the stairs to flush toilets. Extra blankets were gathered to keep the patients warm. The Covid units were full and they were trying to transport my sister to one 2 hours away. The roads were covered in ice, the ambulance couldn't make the trip. I was going to loose my sister and mother at the same time to this horrible illness. Finally, my sister was transported. They both miraculously recovered. But during those weeks of worry, and sleepless nights, VFMW was where I went. It helped me survive. It was my peace. The stories of 2020 were amazing. I will always carry it in my memories. It is not the pictures as much as the words. I wish they could all be preserved somehow. It's important. Thank you.

I applied to join View From My Window at the beginning of Covid. I would like to know why I was marginalised by not being allowed to enter the group. Until now it seems, when it is no longer active. During the course of the pandemic I have been lucky enough to move through a variety of amazing places and you’ve missed out on a whole lot of interesting views. But the more important point is to know by what criteria you decide to accept or marginalise someone? The group’s closing text says you saved a few people from depression, but how many more did you push there instead by deciding arbitrarily not to let them join? What exactly were your criteria for deciding who to save and who to leave out in the cold? Just wondering 🤔

I would like to send a huge thank you to all involved with creating VFMW. I sent a photo with my Gorgeous Ragdoll Munchkin Cat in it, I got “thousands” of likes and comments. This definitely took a bit of the sting off lockdown, the photos that were sent in were just amazing!!! The Animals, the beautiful scenery from all around the world, everything about it was worth a look. And what a great way to gather people together from all around the world in the most harmonious way. Some of us chatted on line, had a few funny comments on things. All in all. I loved it and it was quiet relaxing to see all the Beautiful Photos. Take care everyone, be nice to yourself and others. With love from Australia 🇦🇺❤️

Thank you so much for VFMW. It was a bright spot in every day. I have both books, and it is a pleasure to pick up one of the books and turn to any page at random. I enjoy the view again and imagine myself there. Then I read the description. That person became my "new best friend" for the day. Thanks to VFMW, I traveled the world and met so many new people during the shutdown phase.

This was a journey that began 7 days before my birthday and 3 years later paused 1 day after my birthday. A journey that took me all around the world, showing me every corner. It made me realize that no matter your view it holds a special place in each indivuals heart. I was so greatful to see the not so fancy views of ordinary people whose space is theirs. Thank you Barbara for bringing people together at a time of isolation. You made a difference in many lives. May your life now continue and grow in the way you wish. It was a pleasure to open Facebook and browse through View From My Window. Going to miss it.

View from My Window was absolutely one of the BEST things to come out of the pandemic. The idea was absolutely inspired and see the photos from our windows around the world brought us together in a way nothing else could have. I appreciated the honesty of those who posted the "real" view from their window, not just the "pretty" view. I cannot thank you enough for doing this. You brought a world together in a time when we were feeling alone. May God bless you richly!!

I loved waking up to this page in my fb world. Especially at the beginning, because of COVID, I traveled virtually. I didn't travel before COVID but the lock down made the virtual views and connections sustaining and seeing the reality in other countries brought tears. Especially music from balconies across the globe. History was made.

Thanks, and much gratitude to VFMW staff and volunteers for this fabulous idea the basis of which fed my whole reason for engaging on Facebook even before the 2020 lockdowns—discovering, collecting, and sharing beautiful images, and learning from average people.Your brilliant idea to create a remedy for disruption and isolation and bring people together in peace, and your tedious, marathon-like work and dedication were never lost on me, and something I appreciated since the day I first discovered your page.I send all good wishes to you ongoing.
